A discovery-based engagement removes process risk by diagnosing the actual bottleneck before proposing a definitive workflow process. Purpose-built tools, implemented correctly, reduce risk by closing a specific gap or improving work efficiency by automated standardization where repetitive manual work introduces error.

A department that keeps missing deadlines rarely has a scheduling problem — it has an upstream cause that's been misdiagnosed as one. We start with a discovery meeting to establish what's actually happening, not what the org chart assumes should be happening. Where needed, we follow that with structured interviews with the people doing the work, since the gap between documented process and practiced process is usually where the real issue lives. Only once that picture is complete do we write a plan — specific to your workflow, your team, and the constraint that's actually binding. Then we come back and confirm it holds under real work, rather than assuming it does.

Twenty years of production drafting and design surfaces the same friction points a general-purpose spreadsheet or an off-the-shelf platform never quite resolves. Tools like CableForge exist because that friction was identified precisely enough to justify building something narrow rather than adapting something broad. These are utilities, not platforms — built to remove one specific point of manual error from a workflow, because we did that workflow by hand long enough to know exactly where it breaks.

Twenty years behind the firm.

Patriot Technical Services is built on twenty years in electrical, instrumentation, and controls design — beginning at the drafting board and moving through senior design, discipline lead, and design supervision. That path runs through refining, midstream terminals and custody transfer, gas processing, upstream field development, industrial manufacturing, and federal work requiring a security clearance.

Federal fuel program
Lead designer on an automated fuel-handling program across fifteen sites, maintaining a drawing set exceeding five thousand sheets and the asset database tied to it. Scope covered engineering change proposals, installation design plans, and document control for the full program, plus the drawing procedures the group used to execute change orders. Performed under security clearance.
Building a group
Joined an engineering firm as its first electrical and instrumentation hire, with no standards, procedures, or workflow in place. Wrote them from scratch and led the group to eighteen designers, running five grassroots gas-plant EPC projects concurrently as a working manager, all completed inside about a year. The group's designers have delivered grassroots EPC work on that foundation ever since.
Standards & tooling
Lead design contact for a manufacturer's capital program, spanning 5 kV incoming service down to 24 VDC control I/O and the ethernet networks between. Alongside the project work, authored the company's control-panel fabrication drawing standard and built an I/O panel density tool — both adopted as standing practice.
